The general notion is that if you live somewhere cold in the winter, particularly in Canada, the chances of putting up a building due to the cold arctic chill that covers most of the country is not likely. 

Andrew Macloed purchased a building from Allied Steel to be delivered to his property located near Kearney, Ontario in late October 2006.

It was erected in two days.

“It went up fast,” said Macloed.  “Insulation and everything, I haven’t seen it since unfortunately due to my business here in Toronto.  Kearney is about two and a half hours from the city, which is what is considered north for these parts.”

Originally, Macloed was looking into wooden buildings for a garage that would serve as storage for his canoes, boats, and some of his parents’ furniture for when they move into a retirement home. 

“My In-laws are in farming, and they have a few steel buildings like that for farming,” explained Macloed.  “Before talking with them, I was going to go with a wooden building originally, but then they were talking about steel and different types of farm buildings.  I searched the internet and came across Allied Steel’s web site.  When you click on steel buildings on Google, they show up high on the list.  I inquired online, and started receiving fliers from them, regarding stock.  It went from there.”

He decided on a 30 X 40 foot shell white building that gave him more room than he anticipated for what he needed.

“It was probably overkill having such a great building for a few things,” laughed Macloed.  “I’ll probably use it a little for a welding shop as well.” 

From the moment Macloed saw a picture of one of Allied’s buildings on their web site, he knew that this was the company to purchase a steel building. 

“On their site, they had one building with four doors on one side with trees in the background.  It was exactly the kind of quality that I was looking for.  You can’t see any seems from where the insulation was put in.  It went smoothly.”
